Each prize was endowed with 1000 euros and was sponsored by long-standing industry partners of the Department of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Data Processing.

Christian Schreier submitted the best work in the field of "IT Advisory and Compliance." IT compliance deals with data security and adherence to legal and contractual regulations when handling electronically stored data. Schreier received the KPMG Deutsche Treuhand GmbH prize from Günter Kapitzka for his "Development of a procedural model for using the SAP Exchange infrastructure for VAT returns.".

The Bad Nauheim-based company inconso AG sponsored the prize for the category "IT Systems in Logistics". Claas-Malte Sturm received €1,000 from inconso board member Wilfried Pfuhl for the "Development of a monitoring system for process monitoring of complex application systems in logistics".

The prize in the field of software engineering was presented by Dirk Faulhaber, Managing Director of the IT consulting company Opitz Consulting. It was shared equally by Markus Zippelt, who had investigated the "Opportunities for banks through Web 2.0", and Jens Klingelhöfer, whose work dealt with the "Clustering of application servers in CURSOR-CRM".

Jürgen Leber, known as the Hessian translator of Asterix, provided the entertainment for the event with cabaret-style performances. Prof. Dr. Matthias Willems, who moderated the awards ceremony as he had the previous year, saw the commitment of the three companies as a sign of their interest in a long-term, close collaboration with the university of applied sciences. He stated that student internships and theses at the companies, as well as lectures by company representatives at the university, are beneficial for both sides. The awards demonstrate that Friedberg graduates of Business Information Systems are in high demand and that top companies are vying for their attention.
