Two foreign students from the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM) were honored at an online ceremony for their achievements in their studies and their commitment that goes beyond everyday university life: Besarta Rexhmati from Albania received the Reza Mehran Prize, Abduaziz Juraboev from Tajikistan the DAAD -Price. Both awards are endowed with 1000 euros each.
Rexhmati studies medical management at the Health Department . She plans to connect her Bachelor- a master's degree and do your doctorate. In the long term, she wants to improve the medical conditions in her home country, for example by entering the management of a hospital. In particular, she is concerned with creating therapy options for the treatment of tumor diseases.
Prof. Dr. Reza Mehran, the founder, sent his congratulations to the award winner. Since 2005, the THM has been honoring foreign students who are enrolled in a technical and scientific course of study and who demonstrate exceptional achievements with the prize named after him. Mehran was a professor of electrical engineering in Friedberger for many years. He bases his initiative to promote young scientists on his own experiences during his time studying in Aachen. At the time, he received a prize that honored excellent academic achievements by foreign students - which gave him motivation to continue and pursue an academic career.
Outside of her studies, the award winner Besarta Rexhmati is involved in the network "Together against Tuberculosis" as a companion for sick people, as a supervisor for newcomers in the THM buddy programme and in the "Malik" association to support foreign students. She also runs a successful Facebook page on the same topic.
Such social commitment that goes beyond the course of study is a key requirement for being awarded the prize of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), which was awarded to Abduaziz Juraboev. The civil engineer, who is also studying energy technology at the THM , is currently preparing for his doctorate. He is a tutor for building materials and structural engineering and a mainstay in the “Ersti-Helfer BAU” project. In addition, as an "oldie" in the buddy programme, he also looks after new foreign students and - apart from his THMcommitment - is a volunteer at the parents' initiative for children with leukemia and tumors from Marburg.
The reason for his recognition also highlights his commitment to students and employees with visual impairments: Juraboev is centrally involved in the development and further development of the RFID-based guidance system for the blind in Giessen 's Wiesenstraße.
