The THM has Dr. Detlef Behrens ordered as a honorary professor. With the awarding of the title, the university honors its many years of commitment in teaching and his participation in research and promoting young talent in the field of biopharmaceutical technology.
Dr. Behrens has been associated with THM for many years: He gave his first lecture on July 11, 2015. Since then, he has regularly lectured in the Bachelor's and Master's programmes in Biopharmaceutical Technology (BPT) at the Giessen Department Life Science Engineering (LSE). In addition to his broad professional expertise, students particularly value his practical approach to teaching complex topics. In course evaluations over the past few years, his teaching has consistently received particularly positive ratings. In ten years, he has supervised 14 master's theses.
A milestone of his commitment to the THM was his own doctorate in 2022 - the first under independent doctoral right of the THM in the area of life science engineering. The work "Optimization of efficiency and sustainability in pharmaceutical cleaning" shows that clean rooms with significantly lower air change rates can be sustainable and efficiently operated as usual, without compromise on official requirements.
With the appointment as a honorary professor by THMPresident Prof. Dr. Matthias Willems strengthens the THM interlinking of teaching, research and practice at the Department of LSE. From there, Behrens received support from his doctoral supervisor Prof. Dr. Frank Runkel, who supported him as a godfather. Thanks to scientific companions such as his expert Prof. Dr. Cornelia Keck (Philipps University Marburg) and Prof. Dr. Hermann Wätzig (TU Braunschweig) and LSE dean Prof. Dr. Thomas Schanze, Vice President Prof. Olaf Berger and Michaela Gilbert for organizational accompaniment.
Behrens also expressed his thanks to the students of the past few years, with whom he not only combines him technical exchange, but also numerous motivating feedback. As in the past ten years, it will provide you with risk and quality management as well as system and system design.
