The files of countless members of the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM) have lain on her desk: At the end of the year, Ursula Claudi, long-time head of the personnel department, is retiring from the university. On her last day of work, she was given a farewell by the university's presidium , and colleagues presented her with a gift. "Ms. Claudi performed her duties with great dedication and heart. We will miss her for that," said Vice President Prof. Olaf Berger, head of administration.
Claudi joined the then Giessen -Friedberg University of Applied Sciences on September 1, 1979, as a clerk in the personnel department, responsible for salaried employees, i.e., white-collar and blue-collar workers. She was appointed to civil servant status in 1982. In October 2010, she was appointed deputy head of the personnel administration department, and in May 2012, she became head of the department.
But Claudi has also been actively involved in society in many ways outside of the university. Of particular note are her work as an assessor on the disciplinary chamber of the Giessen Administrative Court from 1999 to 2007 and as a civil servant assessor for the Senate of the Hessian Higher Administrative Court from 2007 to 2012. Furthermore, she will continue to serve as a lay judge at the Giessen Social Court until her retirement.
Due to the pandemic situation, Ursula Claudi addressed her colleagues by email as a farewell message. She thanked them for the good cooperation, the trust shown to her, and – where necessary – the understanding, but especially for the diverse professional and personal experiences and the "many good conversations and discussions, even if these were sometimes controversial.".
