It's a tradition at the Giessen -Friedberg University of Applied Sciences to welcome its first-year students twice a year. "But we don't just have students, we also have trainees," said Vice President Prof. Dr. Axel Schumann-Luck. And that's why he and President Prof. Dr. Günther Grabatin had invited them to a welcome ceremony.
The university is training a total of ten young men and women across three Departments in Giessen and two central departments. Maurizio Bruno, Torsten Fischer, and Christian Müller are training to become IT specialists at the Center for Blind and Visually Impaired Students. Katharina Löer has the same goal at the Department of Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Computer Science, where Natalie Biller has also begun training as a media and information services specialist.
Daniel Ebert (electronics technician for devices and systems) and Benjamin Schäfer (chemical laboratory technician) have been hired at the Department of Hospital and Medical Technology, Environmental and Biotechnology. Simone Stöckmann is training to be a model maker at the Department of Civil Engineering. Steffen Arnold (IT specialist) and Cuma Ugurlu (electronics technician for energy and building technology) have begun their apprenticeships in central departments of the university of applied sciences.
Vice President Schumann-Luck wished the new FH members a successful period of study at the university.
