Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bastian Leutenecker-Twelsiek started his job at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen ( THM ) in the summer semester of 2024. He teaches product development and simulation at the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering in Gießen .
Bastian Leutenecker-Twelsiek completed his mechanical engineering studies with a specialization in product development at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in 2012 as a qualified engineer. In 2019, he wrote his dissertation in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Process Engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich on the topic of “Additive manufacturing in industrial series production: component identification and design”. In it, Leutenecker-Twelsiek deals with implementation concepts for additive manufacturing (3D printing) in industrial series production.

University and city think together

Turning a city with a university into a university town - that is the common goal of the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen ( THM ) and the Friedberg city administration. Strategic planning is already being supplemented by the first concrete steps, such as a room swap, first-year rallies through the city center or the use of the Kaiser Forum by the THM .

Funding commitment for the StartMiUp Factory Sustainable Life

On the way to the StartMiUp Factory Sustainable Life, the universities in Central Hesse have reached a first milestone: Federal Minister of Economics Dr. Robert Habeck announced the participants in the concept phase of the EXIST lighthouse competition “Startup Factories” in Berlin on June 6th. As one of a total of 15 associations, the StartMiUp Innovation and Startup Campus Central Hesse now has a nine-month funding phase to further develop the project and qualify as one of up to 10 projects for the implementation phase from June 2025.

Special guest at the annual GUT corporate trade fair of the construction department at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen ( THM ): Hesse's Science Minister Timon Gremmels was impressed by the cooperation between science and business at the THM
Prof. Dr. Joaquín Díaz, dean of the construction department, explained the approach of the trade fair: “We are trying to build a network here in which students and companies come together.” THM President Prof. Dr. Matthias Willems underscored this: “ THM is a very networked university with a lot of practical relevance, which makes us an application-oriented university.”
Graduation and new phase of life

After studying, a new phase of life begins, the beginning of which should be properly celebrated. That's why the business department at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen ( THM ) ceremoniously said goodbye to its graduates from the last three semesters in the Kleinlinden community center in May.
Dean Prof. Dr. Gerrit Sames, presented the 135 former bachelor's and master's students of the business administration, corporate management, human resources management and digital business Degree Courses with their graduation certificates. He emphasized that studying is just a cornerstone on the students' path in life. The further development of the graduates and their achievements are still unclear. THM President Prof. Dr. Matthias Willems joined with best wishes for the future.

Paths to promotion

Graduates are confronted with many questions before pursuing a doctorate: What requirements must be met in order to begin a doctorate? How do you find a topic that you want to deal with over several years? Who can be considered as a supervisor? How should this phase of life be financed? And can the time be divided so that the doctoral project does not become “endless terror”? In order to clarify these and other questions for THM students, the graduate centers GGS, GGK, GGL and GGN of the Justus Liebig University Gießen (JLU), the Research Campus of Central Hessen (FCMH) and the ArbeiterKind.de initiative invite everyone Interested parties are invited to the information event “Paths into Doctoral Studies” on June 27, 2024.
