A new course at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen is starting. In research and development, THM teams create innovations for industrial practice. The university is expanding its international cooperation network, thereby opening up additional opportunities for students to study abroad. A graduate's thesis receives a prize. A new professor has started work. The THM invites you to public lectures. Here you will find news from teaching, research and university life as a whole.

Prof. Dr. Florian Niederhöfer teaches in the mathematics, natural sciences and data processing department at THM .

Prof. Dr. Florian Niederhöfer started his job at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen ( THM ) in the summer semester of 2024. He teaches mathematics with a focus on engineering mathematics at the Department of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Data Processing in Friedberg.

Under the motto “Farming Mars”, the autonomous robots had to complete various tasks on the competition table.

The German preliminary round of the annual Eurobot competition took place at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen ( THM ). The THM was represented by the student working group “Mobile Autonomous Modular Universal Technology (MAMUT) Robotics”, whose members organized the event on the Gießen campus. The overall organization was in the hands of Prof. Dr. Thomas Glotzbach, who has been looking after the MAMUT group at THM for almost five years.

The energy transition concerns us all, but what can each individual contribute to its success? A keynote lecture on this topic took place at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen ( THM ) by Prof. Dr. Stefan Lechner from the Mechanical and Energy Engineering Department and Dr. Martin Bach from the “Solarlotsen Gießen ”. They linked topics of - home-made - sustainability with scientific explanations.

Ideas from students' minds rarely reach the market in this country. This expert finding is often heard in Germany. A current example from the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen shows how such a path can lead to the goal: the founding project “Klag Robotics”.

This name initially stands for the THM graduate Henrik Klag, who was already very interested in innovative production automation as a student of mechanical engineering and mechatronics on the Friedberg campus. In addition, Klag Robotics describes a project for the “development of optimized robot controls for the tested component provision in the high-speed area,” which is funded by the state of Hesse with around one million euros through the “Distr@l” programme to strengthen digitalization.

As a 37-year-old, Jürgen Hagedorn began teaching at the newly founded Gießen University of Applied Sciences. Now, as a 90-year-old, he looked back on his time at the THM .

“I am very happy that so many people came here today. The connection that this shows me is a great gift for me.” With the term “connection” Prof. Dr.-Ing. In his closing words, Jürgen Hagedorn succinctly expressed what characterized the celebratory colloquium for his 90th birthday at the THM . The Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen and in particular its Department of Civil Engineering expressed respect, sympathy and a sense of togetherness to the former professor of solid construction and statics, who had headed the then Gießen -Friedberg University of Applied Sciences as rector from 1993 to 1997, in a celebratory atmosphere, even a quarter of a century later Farewell from university service still exists.

The energy transition affects everyone, but how can each individual contribute to its success? There will be a keynote speech on this topic at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen ( THM ) by Prof. Dr. Stefan Lechner from the Mechanical and Energy Engineering Department and Dr. Martin Bach from Solarlotsen Gießen .

They combine topics of – self-made – sustainability with scientific explanations. For example, solar power can be easily generated using a balcony power plant. But what should you pay attention to when buying? And how is the plug-in solar system correctly connected and registered? Lechner and Bach will discuss these and other questions at the event.

The area behind the A15 building on the Gießen Wiesenstrasse campus of the THM is to be redesigned. The associated competition ends with an award ceremony as part of the “Responsibility for the Future” lecture series.

One topic every semester, three dates – that is the principle of the lecture series “Responsibility for the Future” at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen ( THM ). The next series starts on Wednesday, April 17th and is dedicated to the transformation of the economy, society and urban spaces.
