Intercultural English Team Tasks (IETT) is a part of the collaborative initiative NIDIT (Network for Impactful Digital International Teaching-skills) founded by the Foundation for Innovation in Higher Education Teaching. A project team at the THM language center conducts IETT in cooperation with three partner universities from summer term of 2024 on: Izmir Institute of Technology (IZTECH, Turkey), BUILDERS Ecole d'Ingénieurs (Caen, France), and TTK University of Applied Sciences (Tallinn, Estonia).
The aim of the IETT project is to promote international and intercultural learning among students from participating universities. In an English course, students work together in international groups on a project and produce a relevant assignment. They can enhance their English skills through task-based learning using 'Team Tasks'. More importantly, students will experience real life and authentic use of English. The Team Tasks will be conducted entirely online on the THM learning platform Moodle, allowing students to participate from their respective home universities. The target group of the IETT project is students from the engineering field with an English language proficiency level of B2.
IETT is designed to be a permanent addition to English courses and will take place every semester.
The Intercultural English Team Tasks (IETT) project is part of the NIDIT (Network for Impactful Digital International Teaching-skills) joint project, which is funded by the Innovation in University Teaching Foundation. It will be carried out in the summer semester of 2024 by the project team of the THM Language Center in collaboration with three partner universities: the Izmir Institute of Technology (IZTECH, Turkey), the BUILDERS Ecole d'Ingénieurs (Caen, France) and the TTK University of Applied Sciences (Tallinn, Estonia).
The aim of the project is to promote international and intercultural learning among students at the participating universities. The students work together in mixed groups consisting of five members. At the end, they submit their services in the form of submissions in Moodle. Communication takes place in English and through task-based learning with Team Tasks they have the opportunity to improve their English skills and use their English skills in authentic situations. The work takes place exclusively online on the THM learning platform Moodle. Students can participate from their respective universities. The IETT project is aimed at engineering students with English skills at B2 level.
It is designed as a permanent supplement to English courses and is intended to take place every semester.
