One of the company's occupational safety committees is the Occupational Safety and Health Committee (ASA).
According to Section 11 of the Occupational Safety Act (ASiG), his task is to advise on various issues relating to occupational safety and accident prevention.
The ASA thus offers everyone involved in the organization of occupational safety a regular platform for exchanging information and experiences. The aim of the ASA is to ensure undisturbed operations through the continuous improvement of occupational safety. The efficiency of the ASA depends largely on a good mutual exchange of information and ideas as well as the regularity of meetings. According to the Occupational Safety and Health Act, the ASA meets at least once a quarter.

The ASA is mandatory for companies with more than 20 employees and is composed as follows:

  • Entrepreneur or representative (manager with decision-making function),
  • two members appointed by the staff council,
  • Occupational safety specialist (SiFa),
  • Company doctor (BA),
  • Safety officer.

In addition, other participants, e.g. B. in accordance with Section 178 of the Social Code IX, the representative body for severely disabled people can take part in ASA meetings in an advisory capacity. Depending on the occasion, other people, such as fire protection officers or external experts, can be called upon to advise on specialist topics.
