The tasks of the data protection officer are defined in the Hessian Data Protection and Freedom of Information Act (HDSIG) and in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). After that, the data protection officer

  • work towards compliance with data protection regulations in the case of measures that interfere with the right of individuals to determine the disclosure and use of their data (right to informational self-determination),
  • to familiarize the persons involved in the processing of personal data at the university with the applicable data protection regulations,
  • to support the university management, departments and Department in the introduction and application of technically organizational measures for data protection, in the creation of a list of procedures and in contact with the Hessian data protection officer, to support
  • to keep the lists of procedures to be created and to keep them available for inspection,
  • to examine new or changed methods of data processing.

The data protection officer of the university is not subject to instructions when performing his duties. He is available to all employees and all students of the TH Mittelhessen as a contact person in all matters of data protection. All inquiries are treated confidentially.
