The THInC - International Semester Programme offers you the opportunity to study for one or two semesters (up to 30 ECTS per semester) in English at THM. Choose subject-related courses and courses with a focus on intercultural competence and/or language learning.
The prerequisite for participation in the THInC International Semester Programme is that your field of study at your home country matches the courses offered and that you are an exchange student of a partner university of the THM.
Nevertheless, as an international exchange student you can also attend courses taught in German, if you have sufficient command (B1 at least) in the German language.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Information on module selection
In your Learning Agreement (LA) / Proposed Study Plan (PSP) you enter your planned course selection. Your Learning Agreement (LA) contains your course selection at THM and the recognition options at your home institution. This document is also
- …prerequisite for the prompt issuing of the Letter of Acceptance (e.g. for your visa).
- …part of the application documents (semester by semester).
- …basis for issuing your Transcript of Records (ToR) at the end of mobility.
Please enter your planned course selection in the Proposed Study Plan (PSP) in our mobility database SoleMove first.
Your module selection has to be confirmed by the departmental advisor/coordinator of the department to which you are assigned.
The departmental advisor/coordinator will check whether you meet the requirement for every single module. Therefore, you must provide him/her with a Transcript of Records from your home university. Thus, he/she can judge whether you fulfil the prerequisites (also linguistically).

THM grading system
The THM grading system can be found in the General Provision (§ 9 Assessment of examination performance) of the THM.

Nomination deadlines for partner institution: 15 May for the autumn semester, 15 November for the spring semester.
Application deadlines for exchange students when applying directly at THM: 1 June for the autumn semester, 1 December for the spring semester.
What does „english-friendly“ mean?
English-friendly courses are taught in German but offer special assistance in English for international students who have a passive knowledge of German. They allow international students to attend lectures that might otherwise not have been accessible to them, while helping them to improve their knowledge of German through the input received in the classroom.
English-friendly courses offer the following support in English:
- Questions: students can ask their questions in English;
- Evaluation: students can do presentations, write essays and/or answer exam questions in English;
- Dictionary: students are allowed to use a dictionary (monolingual German dictionary or bilingual German-mother tongue dictionary, as specified by the teacher), including for exams.
Students, who want to benefit from this special support, need to make sure that the course has the “English-friendly” label. They need to inform the teacher of the kind of support they need at the very beginning of the course.
Note: English-friendly courses are not bilingual courses. Classes are taught entirely in German and teachers are likely to communicate with students in German. English-friendly courses are therefore not accessible to students who have a very limited or no knowledge of German.

Theses and internships
The THM offers internships for individual students from our partner universities
- Internships in a department or one of the numerous competence centres of the THM.
- The European Industrial Experience Mittelhessen (EIEM) programme in cooperation with various partner companies in the Central Hesse region (see below)

You are at the end of your studies and would still like to gain experience abroad? At the THM there is the possibility to write your final thesis as an exchange student.
EIEM European Industrial Experience Mittelhessen
Come to Mittelhessen – the strong industrial region just north of Frankfurt/Main.
The partner companies of our dual study programme offer exchange students placements in Business Administration, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Civil Engineering/ Architecture. The work placements are accredited modules of StudiumPlus and participants will be enrolled as exchange students of StudiumPlus and THM (Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen University of Applied Sciences). Following an intensive German language course, that will also help settle into life in Germany, participants will work full-time in our partner companies.
