Content and objectives
The students acquire comprehensive, up-to-date and practically relevant knowledge about the framework conditions and the action-oriented implementation of the international managementIn doing so, they learn about the challenges and opportunities associated with international business activities in the context of increasing globalization of markets and products, and how the core business functions of a company should be specifically designed in an international context.
The program focuses on key strategies, processes, structures, and tools for successful positioning in global competition. Through the analysis and critical discussion of internationally oriented case studies , students develop the ability to gather and combine relevant information in a problem-oriented manner and to draw solution-oriented conclusions. In doing so, they cultivate personal skills such as teamwork, advocating for their own positions, and presenting concepts.
The case studies focus not only on international companies from various sectors but also on the specific characteristics of individual countries and the associated management skills. Consequently, students also develop their intercultural competence and, due to the English language used in the course, their foreign language skills.

Occupational and professional fields
International business offers an enormous variety of interesting, diverse, and challenging tasks. These range from simple import and export to the coordination of global networks of companies and individuals. Potential junior staff in internationally oriented companies who demonstrate commitment, initiative, independence, teamwork, and social skills are qualified to assume demanding positions that have direct or at least indirect interfaces with aspects and competencies of international management. These positions can be located both domestically and internationally, as well as in various functional areas of a company (e.g., strategy, production, controlling, marketing, or HR). Junior staff who can successfully fill these internationally oriented positions are in high demand. Graduates of the International Management majors acquire the necessary qualifications for such work.
Career prospects
Given the enormous importance of foreign business for the German economy and the expanding global trade, one can expect very good career prospects – especially in combination with another completed Major .
Cooperations
The International Management Major develops strong connections with regional, national, and international companies. Internships, projects, and practice-oriented theses facilitate a lively exchange with industry. Furthermore, lecturers from the field of international management are integrated into the curriculum.
