"SSE Riga is a demanding university with a corresponding reputation. (...) Definitely do a semester abroad! (...) I also recommend moving into a student residence if possible. This way you get to know a lot of different students right away. Even during your stay abroad, you should leave your comfort zone, approach locals, try new things, and attend events. This makes the experience even more intense."
Darius Langsdorf
Stockholm School of Economics Riga, Latvia

A major challenge is the cultural difference and the language barrier. In everyday life, it's not enough to simply not speak the local language.
"In Asia, lectures are conducted like school lessons. Attendance is mandatory, and active participation is expected. Generally, everything here is stricter and more conservative than in Germany."
Yi Wen Deng
Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul, South Korea

"In general, I can only recommend a semester abroad to everyone, but I especially recommend Valencia as a city. It's particularly advisable during the winter semester to escape the German temperatures. I met so many interesting people I might otherwise never have met, and Spanish culture is very welcoming to international students. Plus, you have the opportunity to live by the sea for half a year – what more could you want?
All in all, my semester abroad was one of the best times of my studies, and I would highly recommend it, especially the city of Valencia."
Arndt Bils
Valencia, Spain
Practical phase
A six-month internship in the third semester (April to September) offers valuable insights into a company and allows you to apply your Master's degree knowledge in a practical setting. A positive side effect: For our students, this has often led to a working student position, a collaboration for their Master's thesis, and/or a permanent position after graduation.
Our students completed well-paid internships with interesting employers. On average, they received around €1,500 per month (Source: 14 internships in the M.Sc. Digital Business program between 2021 and 2024, as of July 2, 2024)

"I support the project team in developing a Power BI dashboard for the top management of purchasing and logistics. My role involves analyzing existing data sources and associated KPIs, and creating dashboard views tailored to the target audience.
Additionally, I develop a change management and rollout concept for the sustainable implementation and use of the dashboard."

"My team specializes in mapping business processes on the low-code platforms Bizagi, Mendix, and Microsoft Power Platform. They gather requirements, model and develop processes, and then carry out the deployment. (...) I was able to support my team in developing several demo processes and also contribute to the solution presentation. Pitches are therefore important, as they are how projects are won, and for these pitches, I was able to develop three major processes in the value chain with SAP integration with the help of my team."
