The strength of our program lies in the inter-/transdisciplinary, dynamic, and diverse teaching team, students, and external partners. This collaborative environment fosters innovation, critical thinking, and practical solutions to the complex challenges of sustainability transformation. Each thematic area is guided by experts who bring unique perspectives and expertise, ensuring that students gain a comprehensive understanding of the field. Below, we introduce the pillar leaders and the other educators within each area of focus. The professionals play a key role in shaping the education of our students and are instrumental in preparing the future leaders of sustainable transformation.

Sustainability and Society

 Holger RohnProf. Holger Rohn teaches and researches in the areas of Life Cycle Management, Industrial Ecology, and Sustainability Management at THM, where he holds a professorship in Life Cycle and Quality Management. His expertise spans Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Material Flow Cost Accounting, and Environmental Cost Accounting, with a focus on integrating sustainability into engineering and business processes. As the Sustainability Officer at THM and a member of the Center of Competence for Sustainable Engineering and Environmental Systems (ZEuUS), Prof. Rohn plays a leading role in advancing sustainable development within the university and beyond. He coordinates the Life Cycle Management Laboratory, supports innovative teaching formats like the Learning Factory and Makerspace, and is actively involved in OPEN A5, THM’s open workshop for future-oriented, hands-on education. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Sebastian Schrems is an expert in the fields of Life Cycle Management, Life Cycle Assessment, and Sustainable Production. He is specializing in energy-efficient and resource-efficient production systems, sustainability management, and circular economy. Prof. Schrems also leads the SustainableLife Cycle Management Lab and the Makerspace, where innovative solutions for sustainable production and resource management are explored. Prof. Dr. Isabell Lenz specializes in sustainable business management, sustainability strategy, and climate protection. She teaches courses on sustainability and corporate responsibility, including modules on developing and implementing sustainability strategies, as well as sustainability reporting and assurance. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Göttingen and has previous experience as a Senior Consultant at :response – Consulting for Sustainability and CSR. Prof. Dr. Katrin Pertschy is a professor at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM), specializing in marketing, innovation management, and integrated product and business development. She teaches courses on integrated pProf. Dr. Katrin Pertschyroduct and business development. Her research focuses on AI in marketing, sustainable consumer behavior, business model innovation and transformation, as well as methods and organizational structures in innovation management. She supervises theses, project work, and case studies, providing students with practical insights into modern business challenges. Prof. Dr. Sebastian VogtProf. Dr. Sebastian Vogt is a professor specializing in media production and media technology at THM. He teaches a range of courses within the Bachelor's and Master's programs in Media Informatics. Prof. Dr. Katja Specht served as Vice President for Academic Affairs at the THM for nine years, from 2016 to 2025. During her tenure, she played a key role in laying the strategic foundation for the advancement of teaching and learning at the university, driving numerous innovations in higher education didactics.
